"What airlines look for in your communication — From someone who used to do the hiring"👇

*Written by Guillaume Debauchez ( August, 2025) (📍France)

I spent over a year preparing for the Air France selection.
Studied everything. Practiced every scenario. Networked with their employees.
Did everything you’re supposed to do.
And still — got rejected...
That rejection stayed with me.
At the time, I didn’t understand why, but something was clearly missing.
Looking back, that failure became the turning point.
FROM A BANKRUPT AIRLINE — TO BRITISH AIRWAYS — TO EMIRATES
After that rejection, I joined a small UK airline to keep building hours. It went bankrupt nine months later — but that short experience gave me just enough jet time to apply to British Airways.
This time, I changed my entire approach for the interview.
I spent less time focusing on why I was a good candidate with a great resume and more time focusing on how to communicate what the airline actually needed in a pilot.
The focus shifted from “what do I want to say?” to “what do they need to hear?”
I stopped trying to prove how good I was. Instead, I started showing what the airline actually needed in a pilot.
And it worked — I became the first French JAR-licensed pilot hired by British Airways.
I wasn’t a better pilot than I was at the AirFrance Interview.
What made the difference wasn’t listing every skill I had —
it was how I carried myself and communicated in the room.
That made me a better candidate — and now I help others do the same.
I THOUGHT I KNEW WHAT AIRLINES WANTED UNTIL I BECAME A RECRUITER MYSELF.
It’s NOT about having lots of hours and an impressive CV
I've seen well-trained pilots fail to communicate and stumble at the interview
It’s NOT about having the right inside connections.
Major airlines practice ethical recruitment. Your connections won't save you if you fail to communicate at the interview.
And it’s definitely NOT about impressing them with ready-made answers.
The best candidates don’t sound rehearsed. They are knowledgeable and most importantly communicate well.
SO WHAT ACTUALLY MAKES THE DIFFERENCE?
Understand the power of vocal image
Speak clearly with no filler words
Adjust themselves to their audience
Frame their stories with impact
Master the art of effective conversation
Understand believability and influence
Give rehearsed answers that fall flat
Speak too fast or in a monotonous tone
Speak with low volume or energy
Use filler words polluting any content
Don't adjust to their audience
Don't seem confident or believable
Don't feel convincing and influential
NOW YOU KNOW THE "DIFFERENCE"...

What to say (and what not to) when the pressure is on at an interview.
How to stand out in the first 5 minutes of a career defining interview.
The exact communication method that instantly separate yourself from every other equally qualified candidate.
How to communicate that you’re a Captain in the making — without saying it out loud.
How to build trust and likeability — in less than 10 minutes.
Say the exact phrases that trigger a “yes” from recruiters trained to filter you out
Direct access to ask questions — so you can apply this to your next interview with confidence.

WHY RIGHT NOW IS THE BEST TIME TO PREPARE...
The world needs more pilots — that’s not an opinion, that’s a fact.
But here’s what most cadets aren’t being told:
It doesn’t automatically mean you get picked by your dream airline.
…Top airlines don’t have a shortage of applicants.
They have a shortage of qualified ones.
There are more than enough pilots sending in CVs.
But most don’t make it past the interview.
It's has never been about a perfect CV for the top airlines.
You’re being assessed for:
How you carry yourself when the pressure’s on.
How clearly and calmly you communicate.
How impactful, believable, and influential you can be.
And that’s exactly what this masterclass covers.
